Teen Appeal Takes in the 2014 High School Musical Theatre Awards

Editor’s Note: On Monday, May 12th Deidra Shores was dispatched to the 2014 High School Musical Theatre Awards at the Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Memphis. This is her report.

Cordova High School

The 2014 High School Musical Theatre Awards were beyond imaginable. As students, teachers, family and faculty came together for support, schools from all over the MidSouth were recognized for their theatrical abilities.

All types of awards where handed out: Everything from best solo performance to best set design. Throughout the awards being presented, selected schools entertained attendees with snippets of musicals performed at their schools. I could be biased and say that Cordova High School was the best with their rendition of “Run Freedom Run” from Urine town. However, I must say that schools like Germantown High left the crowd speechless with their rendition of “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from HairSpray.

Former award nominees Moriah Jackson, Jesse Anne Lipscomb, Prentiss Mouton Breyannah Tillman and Chase Waldrip hosted the event.
