Giving truth to Memphis youth
It was a night of winning for the Teen Appeal at the annual University of Memphis Journalism DepartmentSpring Awards Banquet.
This year’s scholarship winners were Eboni Johnson (above) and Alexis G. Ditaway.
Tennessee High School Press winners were also awarded. Sudeshna Barman won first place for Best Review with her book review of Black City, and Best News Story, for her investigative piece on Shelby County School merger. Katyana Dandrige won first place for Best Column with QuestBridge the Gap.
And Deidra Shores was awarded the Judith G. Clabes Award for Outstanding Student Journalism.
